class critique
We have our class critiques today in my group, with nine other students and Claire my tutor and Ann. It went quite well i still need to become more confident in my ability to speak in front of people. They talked about how they liked my little experiments but that i should try and develop then in to something more substantial. Clair suggested that to develop the bubbles in wax mini experiment i could build it up in plastic or something that i can later peal off and combine lots of small experiments to create a big one. I think this is a good idea as i don't think it would be possible to make a giant wax form as it would crack, not have the same amount of detail ad would also become really heavy and fragile. By combining parts it would make it less fragile, i will need to experiment more with this. Ann talked a bit about the cloud like form i exhibited in the pop up show at st martins church, she said that she liked the idea and thought it was really ambitious but that the idea did not come across as well as it should have. I think she is right i start of to ambitious with my work i need to make sure i experiment more before hand and allow my work to build up other wise it is not coming out how i intended it to.
I leaned from the group critique that they liked the wax and glue experiments but not so much the fabric ones. I agree with this as i think the glue and wax are more successfull at communicating the ideas of the ephemeral. I want my work to become larger as i think it would involve people more which i think is an important factor in my work not, this means that i need to experiment more and allow time to develop the idea better. Claire also mentioned that i have these ambitious ideas but i might not be allowing my self enough time to let them develop how i imagined them to look. I will make sure with this final major project that i allow my self enough time to build up my idea. I also need to experiment with different ways of presenting my final idea and what allows it to become most effective at communicating the temporary.
